Why We Built CiteLogos

After years of working with doctoral students and reviewing countless dissertations, we noticed a pattern: brilliant scholars spending hours hunting for citation errors instead of focusing on their research.

Faculty members were spending valuable feedback time marking comma placement and et al. formatting when they wanted to engage with the actual ideas in student work.

We built CiteLogos because we believed there had to be a better way. A tool that handles the tedious work of citation checking so that everyone can focus on what really matters—the quality of the research and writing itself.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

CiteLogos Logo

CiteLogos combines "Cite" with the Greek word Logos (λόγος), meaning "the Word." In the Gospel of John, Logos represents divine truth and reason—"In the beginning was the Word."

Our name reflects our belief that every citation matters. When scholars properly attribute ideas to their sources, they participate in the honest pursuit of truth that defines academic work. Accurate citations honor both the original authors and the integrity of scholarship itself.

The lambda (λ) in our logo represents this deeper meaning, while the checkmark symbolizes the verification and validation we provide.
